What Are the Standard Dimensions of Kitchen Fronts in the METOD System?

The METOD kitchen system is one of the most popular kitchen furniture series available on the market. Its modular design allows for easy customization and adaptation to the user’s individual needs. One of the key elements of the METOD system is the kitchen fronts, which come in various sizes. What are the standard widths and heights of METOD fronts? What should you consider when choosing them? You’ll find the answers in the article below.

What is the METOD kitchen system?

The METOD system is a modern and modular solution for kitchen arrangement, offered by IKEA. It is distinguished by a wide selection of cabinets, countertops, and fronts, which allows for creating almost any kitchen configuration. Thanks to its modular design, the elements of the METOD system can be freely combined, adjusting them to the size and layout of the room.

The most important features of the METOD system:

  • Modularity – the ability to freely combine cabinets and fronts,
  • Standard dimensions – making assembly and replacement of elements easier,
  • A wide range of finishes – a variety of colors and materials allow for kitchen personalization,
  • Compatibility with accessories – compatibility with drawers, hinges, and opening systems.

Every METOD kitchen consists of cabinet frames, to which fronts of appropriate sizes are selected.

Standard Dimensions of METOD Kitchen Fronts

Kitchen fronts in the METOD system come in different widths and heights, which allows them to be adjusted to various types of cabinets, such as base cabinets, wall cabinets, or tall cabinets.

Widths of METOD Fronts

The METOD system offers four standard front widths:

  • 20 cm – the smallest width, mainly used in narrow auxiliary cabinets,
  • 40 cm – a commonly used width for standard base and upper cabinets,
  • 60 cm – the most popular dimension used in classic kitchens,
  • 80 cm – used in wide cabinets and drawers.

Heights of METOD Fronts

Just like with widths, METOD kitchen fronts come in several standard heights:

  • 20 cm – most commonly used as small drawers or components of wall cabinets,
  • 40 cm – popular in lower upper cabinets,
  • 60 cm – the standard height for most lower kitchen cabinets,
  • 80 cm – mainly used in tall cabinets and wall cabinets,
  • 100 cm – used in the largest modules, such as tall pantry cabinets.

The above sizes allow for creating both classic and modern kitchens, where the elements match each other in terms of aesthetics and functionality.

What Materials Can METOD Fronts Be Made From?

The choice of the right material for kitchen fronts has a significant impact on the appearance and durability of the kitchen. The METOD system offers fronts made from various materials, such as:

MDF (Medium-Density Fiberboard)

MDF is one of the most frequently chosen materials for furniture fronts. It is a medium-density fiberboard characterized by:

  • A smooth surface, ideal for painting,
  • Resistance to moisture and mechanical damage,
  • The possibility of milling and shaping into any forms.

Veneer

Veneered fronts are an elegant solution for people who appreciate the natural look of wood. Veneer is a thin layer of wood applied to an MDF or particleboard panel. The advantages of this solution:

  • Natural appearance – replicates the grain of wood,
  • Durability – resistant to minor damage,
  • Possibility of painting and staining.

Laminate

Laminated fronts are most commonly used in modern kitchens. Their biggest advantages include:

  • Resistance to moisture and scratches,
  • Ease of maintenance,
  • A wide range of colors and patterns.

The choice of the appropriate material depends on the kitchen style and the individual preferences of the user.

What Cabinets Do METOD Kitchen Fronts Fit?

METOD kitchen fronts are only compatible with the METOD cabinet system. This means they do not fit the older FAKTUM system, which has been discontinued. METOD cabinet frames are available in different sizes and can be used for:

  • Base cabinets – fronts with a width of 40 cm, 60 cm, or 80 cm and a height of 60 cm,
  • Upper cabinets – fronts with heights of 40 cm, 60 cm, or 80 cm,
  • Tall cabinets – combined fronts, reaching up to 200 cm.

Thanks to the modular construction, the METOD system allows for easy replacement of fronts and their adjustment to a new kitchen arrangement.

What Finishes Does the METOD Kitchen System Offer?

The METOD kitchen system offers a wide range of front finishes, allowing full customization of the kitchen's appearance. You can choose from options such as:

  • Matte fronts – elegant and modern, they fit well with a minimalist interior,
  • Glossy fronts – reflect light, visually enlarging the space,
  • Wooden fronts – give the kitchen a cozy, warm look,
  • Pastel-colored fronts – ideal for Scandinavian-style kitchens.

Thanks to a rich palette of colors and textures, everyone can find the perfect solution tailored to their needs.

The METOD system is a modular and functional solution for kitchen arrangement. Kitchen fronts are available in standard widths of 20, 40, 60, and 80 cm and heights of 20, 40, 60, 80, and 100 cm. Made from MDF, veneer, or laminate, they offer a wide range of finishes, allowing them to be adapted to any interior. Regardless of the chosen style, METOD enables the creation of an aesthetic and ergonomic kitchen that meets all user needs.

When planning the purchase of fronts, it is worth paying attention to their material, color, and compatibility with cabinet frames to achieve a harmonious and functional final effect.
